Hours: Full time 35 hours per week
About the role
Sightsavers Zambia office is currently seeking two Programme Assistants to support the Neglected Tropical Diseases Elimination project funded by Helmsley. The project aims to support the implementation of interventions under the Ministry of Health’s National Trachoma Elimination Programme.
The Programme Assistants will be responsible for managing daily activities and supporting the delivery of the project with key stakeholders at local and national levels. The Programme Assistants will be an important point of contact for the project within the region.
Responsibilities
Programme Assistants duties include:
Working closely with the Project Manager in the implementation and monitoring of the full geographical coverage approach for Trichiasis case management.
Supporting the planning and implementation of trachoma surveys.
Supporting the identification of WASH needs and implementation of the facial cleanliness and environmental improvement component of the project.
Supporting the collation of data from all partners for reporting into Sightsavers reporting systems.
Supporting with preparations for meetings, workshops, trainings, audits, project reports etc.
Establish positive relationships with district and community stakeholders.
Support partners with development of activity-based budgets.
Work with the PM to ensure efficient procurement and clearance of all project needs.
Support any other work as directed by PM and Country Director, Zambia Country Office.

Skills and Experience
As the ideal candidate you will have experience, or a degree, in a related field (e.g. Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Health), possess experience in working for an NGO/INGO, and hold knowledge of aspects of project management within a community development programme.
Further requirements include:
Knowledge of procurement and supply chain.
Experience of engaging with partners like Government line Ministries, organisations of persons with disabilities.
Computer skills – use of Microsoft WORD and Excel.
Fluency in English (written and spoken). Knowledge of local language an added advantage.
An understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity for people with disabilities.
Experience of working with persons disabilities will be an advantage.
