Mary’s Meals is a non-profit organization that provides one daily meal in a place of education to attract chronically hungry children into a classroom, where they receive an education that can be their way out of poverty. The organization began by feeding 200 children in Malawi and today feeds more than 2 million children daily. Mary’s Meals uses locally grown food to support the local economy and works hard to keep running costs low to ensure that at least 93% of donations go to charitable work. This is possible since most of the work is done by an army of volunteers. The organization is located in Chipata.

Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Procurement Manager based in Chipata. The Procurement Manager will oversee the organization’s procurement strategy and the sourcing of goods and services. The Procurement Manager will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, assessing supplier performance, negotiating contracts, and managing contract renewals. The Procurement Manager will be expected to maintain comprehensive records of all procurement activities for the organization.


  • An in-depth understanding of procurement processes, practices, and procedures
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience in conducting supplier evaluations
  • Experience in negotiating and managing contracts
  • Proven ability to develop and implement procurement strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • A degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector or in a cross-cultural environment is desired
