EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

The National Assembly of Zambia invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following vacant positions:

RESEARCH OFFICER (X2)

The core responsibility of the Research Officer is to undertake research and generate information to support the department’s goal of providing research and information services to Members of Parliament, senior members of staff and other approved users. This includes preparing policy briefs and analytical papers on various topics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Full Grade 12 Certificate with at least merit in english language and credit or better in four (4) other subjects:
• A degree in a relevant field from a recognised university;
• At least 3 years’ work experience, with a proven track record in research services; and
• Proven and well-developed research, analytical and writing skills, including the ability to extract and analyse relevant data to produce analytical papers.

KEY ATTRIBUTES AND SKILLS

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)
• Innovative, proactive, with critical thinking skills;
• Ability to work under pressure and deliver on time;
• Ability to pay particular attention to detail, ensure accuracy and work with minimum supervision
• Proficiency in research software such as SPSS, STATA;
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills;
• Ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with Members of Parliament and staff; and
• Dynamic, highly-organised with sound judgment.
