Zambia Sugar Plc. is a subsidiary of Illovo Sugar Africa (Pty) Ltd Group and is the leading sugar producer in Zambia. Its main activities are the growing of sugar cane, the production and marketing of sugar, and other sugar downstream products.

The Company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the position Artisan Linesman in the Estate Support Services Department.

The position reports to the Estate Maintenance Supervisor Electrical. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out maintenance works on 33kv and 400v overhead lines.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Replacing rotten high-tension poles for 33kv lines.
  • Replacing low tension poles for 400v township lines.
  • Maintenance of township transformers and 400v switchgear.
  • Maintenance of 300kv switchgear in main switch yard.
  • Installation work of service cables for houses in Estate townships.
  • Carrying out high voltage and low voltage switching operations.
  • Construction work of 400v overhead lines.
  • To ensure there is no waste in terms of materials and spares.
  • To attend to customer complaints as urgently as assigned to.
  • Attend to standby duties.
  • Ensure tools used like earthing kits, high voltage testers and multimeters are kept in good condition all the time.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Craft Certificate in Line Work / Electrical or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ work experience working on overhead lines
  • Experience in overhead lines up 33kv will be an added advantage
  • Valid membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
