Assistant Field Supervisor x2

Our client, a Global Healthcare and Crop Science Innovation company is looking to hiring (x02) Assistant Field Supervisors.

Location: Lusaka-01 and Mkushi-01

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• The Assistant Field Supervisors will plan and coordinate commercial seed maize field production activities across the assigned field production region, in order to meet the seed volume and quality standards as prescribed by the SCCI Internal Standards. Ensure the responsible use of assigned resources, equipment, and materials and thereby optimize production costs, quality and Safety
• Responsible for all activities related to the delivery of high-quality commercial seed in Zambia. This includes but not limited to pre-plant control, Planting, rouging (off type removal), harvest moisture control and field sampling, harvesting, seed delivery to the designated warehouse. In achieving this, you will maintain all accurate report and statutory records related to the assigned production areas.
• Liaise with the Area Field manager or Site Lead to ensure crop plan roll out and thereby ensure effective seed production planning, grower contracting, planting, detasseling, harvesting processes, other activities that includes, fertilizing, weed, insect, irrigation control for commercial seed maize productions.
• Liaise with seed certifying agents and ensure compliance of all seed productions to the certifying agencies.
• Evaluate grower success and do grower selection, contracting and crop allocations as well as annual field reviews.
• Coordination with seed growers to ensure a smooth transition and flow of product from field to plant and ensuring that plant quality guidelines are adhered to during shelling, bagging and transportation.
• Lead ESH efforts, aid and arrange for resources to promote safety/human rights in field operations.
• To implement, coordinate and functionalize QMS (ISO 9001) systems in the field operations through maintaining field/Plant operational records as required by the QMS management systems and timely capturing in the Velocity/SAP digital platform, to manage productions/processing effectively.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards and management system set by ISO9001.

Desired Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

• Must possess a minimum Diploma in Agronomy or related Academic qualification.
• Must have at least 4 years’ experience in Field and Seed production
• Should be proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel, E-mail, Word, Project etc.)
• Should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (Fluent in English)
• Should be results focused with the ability to work on own initiative.
• Should have strong teamwork capability (flexibility to work across the areas and positively influencing others)
• Must have knowledge of seed production
• Must have SCCI Seed inspector training/Certification
• Should have a valid driving License.
