Special Education Teacher

Tongabezi Trust School is an Independent School with over 280 children from Pre-School to Grade 9. We offer high-quality education and co-curricular activities to vulnerable children within the rural community of Simoonga on the outskirts of Livingstone. The school follows the Zambian National Curriculum together with influences from overseas. The Vision of the school is to develop independent learners who have the skills to make informed decisions about their lives; their future and the world they live in to fully utilize available opportunities.

We seek the services of an enthusiastic, qualified and experienced person to take up an exciting job as a Special Education Teacher.

Minimum Required Skills/Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Thorough understanding of and the ability to implement various effective teaching methods including literacy and numeracy skills.
Ability to modify the curriculum to ensure that it is accessible to students with learning disabilities.
Thorough understanding of policies, laws, and guidelines related to special education
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Computer literate
Must be patient and passionate about learning disability inclusion

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Special Education required
Grade 12 certificate
Appropriate Special Education and Teaching Council Practicing Certifications are required.
Not less than two years of experience is highly preferred.
Primary School teaching experience in literacy and numeracy skills will be an added advantage.
Must be able to assist students who have learning disabilities.
Ability or experience in handling SEN students with autism, dyslexia and dyscalculia will be an added advantage.
