NetOne owns and operates Zambia’s first Tier III carrier neutral data offering colocation services, infrastructure as a service and software as service. NetOne also owns and operates the Swish Pay platform enabling digital payments from consumer to merchant through its integrations with Visa, MasterCard and Mobile Money platforms. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hold the supervisory role for the data center (NOC) team.
  • Maintain data centers and environmental facilities including but not limited to UPS, backup generator power, fire prevention systems, and HVAC.
  • Support in planning, installation, and support of the company’s physical computer infrastructure (hardware, systems software, networks, and backup systems).
  • Troubleshoot issues within the data center and physical infrastructure in conjunction with the infrastructure team.
  • Manage and support change and release processes for physical and virtual data center environments.
  • Provide cost and design proposals and liaise with vendors.
  • Establish physical operational support procedures for all systems.
  • Train all team members.
  • Create metrics and monitoring to aid in SLA reporting.
  • Ensure Installing and configuring internal laptops and printers and carrying out general maintenance of IT Equipment used by NetOne Staff as well as attending to all technical challenges faced internally by staff.
  • Assist with the evaluation of new products, systems, and equipment for the NOC.
  • Implement processes for monitoring/ alerting, systems maintenance, change control, and for automation opportunities.
  • Identify the root cause of severe network infrastructure issues to plan for future prevention and service improvements.
  • Ensure uptime of internet off links is kept at 99% uptime.
  • Undertaking any other duties/tasks (as assigned) or responsibility required to ensure the achievement of the objectives of the job within the overall objectives of NetOne IT Limited.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The following knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, prior experience, or on-the-job training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology,
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of working experience in the ICT industry.
  • CompTIA Server +, CompTIA Network +, and CCNA. CCNP certification would be advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of data center environments, servers, and network equipment.
  • Extensive experience in installing, monitoring, and maintaining data center equipment.
  • Good working knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
  • Good working knowledge of server virtualization technologies and storage infrastructure.
  • Exceptional ability to work as part of a team, provide IT support, and resolve errors.
  • Willingness to respond to network and server errors after hours.
  • Ability to keep up with advancements in data center infrastructure and technologies.
  • Proficiency in documenting network processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to changing technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, and logical thinking skills to isolate and identify potential issues in a complex environment.
  • Good knowledge of data center equipment technologies

  • Able to operate with minimal supervision.
  • Open to 24×7 availability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication, written, and presentation skills.
  • Have a valid driving license with 2 years plus driving experience.
  • Undertaking any other duties/tasks (as assigned) or responsibility required to ensure the achievement of the objectives of the job within the overall objective of NetOne IT Limited.
