Plant Food Safety Manager

Zambeef Products PLC is the largest integrated cold chain food products and agribusiness company in Zambia and one of the largest in the Southern Africa region. It is involved in the primary production, processing, distribution and retailing of beef, chicken, pork, eggs, dairy, fish, flour, stock feed and day-old chicks throughout Zambia and the surrounding region.

The Required Skills for this Role Include:

• Developing, reviewing, and updating the Food Safety Policy and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Forms related to food safety in the plant where assigned.
• Implementing a Food Safety Management System, in line with Zambeef’s Food Safety & Quality Policy, and international best practices in the plant.
• Implementing and maintaining applicable international, national and local food safety & quality regulations and standards.
• Developing plans, executing and assisting proper growth-oriented programs for the enhancement of higher standards to ensure food safety and quality.
• Coordinating with supply chain partners to assist in product improvement and innovation.
• Ensuring products from the plant are safe and of good quality.
• Maintaining food safety documentation.
• To complete food supplier audits (against the FSMS systems implemented), identifying corrective actions required and escalation of major concerns and ensuring action thereof as required.

The Required Qualifications are:

• Full Grade 12 Certificate with 5 Credits
• Degree in Food Science, Biological Science, Animal Science, Veterinary Science or a similar field.
• At least 3 years hands-on food safety experience
• HACCP Certification will be an added advantage.
