Overview
My Client, a family owned farm is looking for an experienced and seasoned Production Manager and Sales Manager team for their holistic and biodiverse business based on the outskirts of Lusaka.
The Production Manager, who will have at least 7 years experience in horticulture, agronomy (soil management and crop protection) and cropping, will be required to look after the horticulture production – blueberries (19ha for export), granadillas (for export market) as well as flowers grown throughout the year, mostly for export and some for local market. The farm also produces seed maize and wheat which will fall under their remit
The duties include;
- Hands on responsibility for the development and maintenance of all growing systems
- Provide leadership, direction and oversight to the team while working towards achieving the companies goals and helping to maintain performance
- Formulate farm operation and production schedules
- Assures and promotes effective communication between personnel
- Implement horticulture best practices to ensure production targets are achieved
Must have’s for this role;
- At least 7 years relevant farm production experience, harvesting and farm maintenance
- Horticulture practices and a technical understanding of fruit and flower production functions
- Positive, passionate and enthusiastic about Hort
- NON NEGOTIABLE – at least 3-5 yrs experience with blueberries or a similar soft fruit
- NON NEGOTIABLE – agronomy experience (crop protection and soil management)
- A relevant Agricultural degree in agronomy or closely related field
- PC skills
- Excellent communication, record keeping and time management skills
- Experience in leading, motivating, and delegating
- Works well under pressure
The Sales Manager will be responsible for the sale of farm products, the packed and all freight (80% to the international market and 20% to the local market). Attention to detail is a must as well as having a strong personality.
