General Functions

  • Lead identification of community needs
  • Engage with community based organizations, local institutions and traditional leaders
  • Monitor project activities
  • Support capacity building activities
  • Reporting

Specific Roles and Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager-WASH, the Field Coordinator will perform the following tasks:

  • Day today planning, execution and supervision of project activities
  • Supervise activities of local contractors and service providers as well as consultants and trainers.
  • Network with stakeholders and relevant authorities particularly the Local Authority, Traditional Leaders and public sector institutions to achieve set objectives
  • Prepare project/activity reports, work-plans and activity charts
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly plans and reports
  • Assist the project manager to collect data on key project activities and milestones, and document key lessons

Person Specifications:

  • Advanced certificate or Diploma in Social Work, Development Studies, Sociology or any other related subject
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar position
  • Knowledge of the WASH sector policies, approaches and practices such as CLTS, PHAST and PHHE
  • Ability to fluently speak the local language
  • Knowledge of community participatory approaches
  • Knowledge of M&E
  • Knowledge of MHM
  • Knowledge of Rights Based Approaches to advocacy in WASH
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Familiarity with community planning tools and methods such as social mapping, resource mapping and well-being ranking
  • Being a Salvationist is an added advantage.
