Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following vacancies at Levy Mwanawasa Medical University,

Job Purpose:

The Assistant Director Information Communication and Technology (ICT) is responsible for managing and coordinating installation and maintenance of software at the Levy Mwanawasa Medical University in order to ensure smooth operation of computer applications/systems.

Principal Accountabilities:

Ensure periodic systems customisation in order to install up-to-date software for supporting smooth operations in the University and Health Facilities

Ensure compliance with disaster recovery procedures and maintenance standards in line with current technological requirements in order to facilitate quick system recovery:

Undertake periodic research and development activities in ICT in order to provide up to date software for systems support:

Provide support to both users and partners on web based tools

Develop manuals and provide end user training on new technologies and tools

Supervise effectively staff under her/his section in order to ensure the attainment of the applications unit objectives:

• Develop new software applications for high impact results from health and training related projects
• Install, maintain and manage various database systems and provide website management;
• Create and undertake technical maintenance of the office websites and intranet;
• Ensure LMMU website is technologically up to date and navigable;
• Ensure LMMU staff are provided with institutional emails and are accessible;
• Install, maintain and manage various virtual systems images and systems

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

• Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent which should include English Language and Mathematics

A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology:

• Master’s degree in Information Technology,
• Microsoft/Linux Certification will be an added advantage
• Moodle certification will be an added advantage
• Knowledge of Students records systems
• Sound knowledge of SQL databases and virtualisation
• technologies
• Programming in Java, C.PHP or Python
• Knowledge of Accounting Systems and Human Resource Management systems
• Firewall and Computer Security certification
• Knowledge of Students records systems
• Sound knowledge of SQL databases and virtualisation technologies
• Certification in Networking will be an added advantage
• Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in various ICT environments preferably in a higher institution of learning;
• Possess proof of membership to a professional association or organisation;
