The Health Professions Council of Zambia is a statutory regulatory body under the Ministry of Health with both statutory obligations to regulate the registration of health care facilities and health practitioners as well maintaining optimal standards of competence, care and professional conduct. It was established under the Health Professions Act No. 24 of 2009. The Health Professions Act continues the existence of the Medical Council of Zambia which was established under the repealed Medical and Allied Professions Act. The mission of the Health Professions Council of Zambia is ‘to regulate professional conduct of Public and Private Health practitioners and institutions in order to assure the provision of quality health services. The Council seeks applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill up the following position:

Job Profile:

  • To undertake effectively internal audit activities in order to ensure adherence to financial and operational controls.

Main duties:

  • Undertakes timely pre and post audits in order to assess the effectiveness of the internal controls;
  • Undertakes the risk assessment of a specific department, function or activity and establish risk based audit programs;
  • Undertakes the review of suitability of financial internal controls and make suitable recommendations;
  • Undertakes detailed audit testing of applicable areas;
  • Undertakes maintenance of accurate and comprehensive audit records and working papers for audit files and report;
  • Undertakes follow up audits on significant findings;
  • Undertakes the performance of special audit investigations when required to do so;
  • Undertakes timely preparation of audit reports in order to facilitate decision making;

Reporting relationship, Knowledge and skills requirements:

  • Reporting to the Chief Internal Auditor
  • Bachelor of Accountancy from a recognised University with a professional Certificate i.e. partial ACCA, CIMA and ZICA.
  • Full Grade 12/ Form V School Certificate
  • MUST be a Full paid up member of professional bodies with latest practicing membership licence
  • Minimum of two (02) years’ work experience in a reputable Organisation i.e. Regulatory Statutory board or Public Institutions will be an added advantage
  • Excellent report writing a Must
  • Must have computer skills in MS Excel, Word and Power point and Knowledgeable of all accounting packages
  • Must demonstrate strong analytical and research skills
  • Must have ability to produce accurate and timely work
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity
  • Excellent English language oral and written communication skills with interpersonal skills
