The Projects and Dam Safety Department of the Authority currently has vacancies for the positions of a Designs Engineer and a Projects Assistant to be based in Siavonga but operating from the Authority’s Office in Kariba. The positions are open only to Zambian nationals meeting the pre-requisites for the said jobs.

Job Purpose

o The Designs Engineer will be responsible for carrying out duties in the Projects and Dam Safety Department which will include designing, researching, engineering documentation, estimating and process improvement.

o Under the Supervision of the Senior Manager — Projects, the Designs Engineer will carry out the following:

Key Responsibilities: –

o Manages, designs, develops, creates and maintains small-scale and large-scale construction projects in a safe, timely and sustainable manner

o Discusses and assists in the execution of all Kariba Dam Rehabilitation Project (KDRP) civil works programs

o In liaison with the Contracts Engineer and the Planning and Scheduling Engineer, participates in extra work budget planning and development and evaluates proposals

o Analyses and evaluates proposals submitted for implementation of the projects and advises the Senior Manager — Projects accordingly

o Monitors project progress, identifies potential and real problem areas, formulates solutions and advises the Senior Manager-projects

o Participates in reviews and updates of designs and drawings, tracks all the updates and produces reports

o Participates in site project testing and commissioning to identify deviations from specifications, if any

o Monitors critical parameters during and after construction

o Conducts on site investigations and analyzes data

o Ascertains that all designs and operational parameters are met before hand over

o Evaluates projects from preparatory works to completion and produces detailed reports

o Participates in quality control checks, compares with specifications and advises on any deviation and possible courses of action.

o Prepares procedures on quality and ensures that they are adhered to

o Ensures a safe and healthy working environment at all times

Qualifications And Experience

o Education: 5 ‘O’ Levels

o Professional: Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent

o Relevant Post Graduate qualification in Project Management as added advantage

o Minimum of six (6) years’ experience in a similar position with at least five (5) years be at middle Management level

o Membership of a Professional Body
