The holder of this position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop an in depth understanding of the various Metallurgical Processes
• Evaluate recovery and concentrate quality improvement opportunities via laboratory flotation test work and plant trials.
• Conducting plant surveys and interpreting results
• Developing mass balance assisting in the evaluation of test/plant data
• Liaise and communicate verbally and in writing with other sections and departments to ensure timely availability of relevant information to appropriate personnel for efficient plant performance
• Adhere to statutory and domestic regulations in particular those regarding to safe working practices in order to minimise injury to personnel and damage to company assets. Implement and update the quality assurance system, documentation and manuals etc.
• Ensure procedures are complied with for all laboratory functions
• Perform Metal Accounting duties on an ad hoc stand-in basis
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Qualifications
• Grade Twelve certificate
• Degree or diploma in metallurgy or relevant discipline or qualification acceptable to become a member of the engineering institute of Zambia as per Act No.27 of 1992
• Computer literate (Microsoft)
Experience
• One 1 year relevant experience in a plant environment is desired
• Strong analytical, data analyses and cognitive skills. Problem solving expertise would be an added advantage
• Experience in conducting laboratory floatation test work and working in an operational environment would be an added advantage
