Mopani Copper Mines PLC, a joint venture company comprising major shareholders Glencore, First Quantum Minerals Ltd and ZCCM Investment Holdings, owns operations in Mufulira and Nkana on the Copperbelt in Zambia. The Company seeks the services of a qualified Superintendent Rock Mechanics reporting to Manager Technical Services.


The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, controlling and coordinating all Rock Engineering activities at Mopani (Nkana and Mufulira Mine Sites) to ensure that safe and cost effective mining operations are carried out in compliance with all relevant Mining Regulations


• Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering or Geology or its equivalen

• Ten (10) years’ geotechnical experience in an underground metalliferous environment

• Working experience with mine software including Surpac and Map 3D as well as Rocscience software (Dips, Unwedge, Phase 2D)

• Ability to use Geotechnical software for geotechnical analysis and modelling

• Ability to interpret/process Seismic data

• Conversant with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Microsoft Project and Power Point)

• Good oral and written communication skills 8

• Fully paid up membership of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)

• Must be registered with the Engineers’ Registration Board (EngRB)
