Chemonics is seeking a deputy chief of party for the anticipated five- to seven-year, $65- to $75-million USAID Scaling Up Nutrition Technical Assistance (SUN TA) Activity in Zambia. The project will support integrated nutrition; agriculture; and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), through collaboration with the Ministries of Agriculture, Health, Community Development, and Education. SUN TA will assist the Zambian government in reducing stunting and foster social and behavior change in targeted districts across several provinces. The project aims to increase access to water and sanitation, improve the productivity and capacity of high-value, nutrient-rich value chains, and increase household knowledge and support for new eating and child feeding habits. Specifically, SUN TA will focus on adequate quantity and quality of dietary intake of target groups and adequate health conditions for biological utilization of nutrients. Contribute to the overall technical direction and management of the project in collaboration with the chief of party

Oversee programmatic operations, including day-to-day activities involving administration, compliance, procurement, budgeting, finance, and human resources

Oversee communications, monitoring, evaluation, and learning; write and contribute to project deliverables

Ensure program implementation is conducted in accordance with USAID regulations, Chemonics policies, and the contract scope of work

Coordinate technical experts and ensure alignment with the National Food and Nutrition Commission and all program activities

Support the chief of party to ensure timely achievement of project objectives according to the work plan and the performance management plan


Master’s degree or higher in a relevant technical field required

10 years of demonstrated experience in leading the implementation of projects of a similar size, scope, and complexity

Demonstrated experience with large-scale childhood nutrition activities

Experience overseeing program operations and finance of large USAID-funded activities

Demonstrated experience in relationship building and partnership development with host governments, international donors, implementing partners, and other stakeholders

Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity

Excellent communication and writing skills in English
